The felony murder rule goes like this. While committing a felony if someones death is caused, all involved in the felony act can be charge with the murder even if they did not directly cause the death. Let me illiterate this point. Two men plan a robbery. One is the driver and the other is the robber. They drive to the location of the robbery. The driver sits in the car waiting for other man who enters the establishment and while robbing the owner shoots him and he dies. The robber returns to the car and they drive away. Even though the driver had no intention of causing anyone any harm and did not actively participate in the actions that cause the business owner his death, the driver none the less can be charged with the homicide under the felony murder rule.
